LD46 - Stove Man

Posted 2020-04-21updated 2020-04-21

So, this weekend me and mr Daniel has been working like nothing else, due to Ludum Dare 46! For you who are not aquinted with the LD game jam, check out Their website

The theme for LD 46 was “Keep it alive”, which means that our game had to fit this theme mechanically. Dan remembered the old swedish comedy bit “Kaminmannen” (Stove Man), and away we went!

We had 72 hours to complete this game, from scratch (although we cheated just abit with some open source sound effects). We made a physics based game in Unity, which we tough in itself, and I had to apply my newly aquired music production skills, which are, by the way, not really up to par…
The only things which proceeded proper smooth was the modelling.

If you guys want to try out our 72 hours disasterpiece of a game, you can find it for free at Itch.io!

By the way. To you folks who volunteered for testing Goblin Insurrection, we have not forgotten you! It is taking more time than expected to make a playable (and enjoyable) demo. Hang tight, we will revisit this soon!

Until next time, stay safe!

Testers Wanted!

Posted 2020-04-06updated 2020-04-06

We are very, very close at a demo of Goblin Insurrection here at Red Pentagram Studios.
And, as any other game, we need testers! :)

If you would like to test our game; because you are a diehard gamer, our very best friend, or you always wanted to put guinea pig on your CV, then you should post a comment right under this message.
We will invite all who comment to download and try out Goblin Insurrection in the near future, unless your comment specifically says otherwise!

Stay frosty!

Daniel showcases a silent Insurrection!

Posted 2020-04-03updated 2020-04-03

Hey everybody!

Turns out that social distance is good for game development, who would have thought?! After the last video we set a goal to make the game playable ASAP, with all the mechanics we wanted in fully realised and feeling good. This is the result!

Video is Daniel showcasing a very silent Goblin Insurrection, we have yet to add SFX and music. Like and subscribe.. LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!!

Trailer is here!

Posted 2020-03-12updated 2020-03-16

Great success! Finally the trailer for Goblin Insurrection is here, with some nice atmospheric tunes and sfx by Mr. Johann Strauss!

We are super excited to be submitting this to Fig for our crowdfunding campaign! Stay tuned, the campaign will launch somewhere during the middle of April!

Have a look, give us your thoughts!

Status Update

Posted 2020-02-26updated 2020-03-16

So, the commitment to make a blog each week is, apparently lower than developing our game…

Anyways, i thought i would post a quick newsflash!

Our trailer is almost, almost done! This sunday Johann Strauss delivered a tasty track, complete with sfx, and as everything came together we noticed a few things which needed to be adressed. We decided to make things go faster, and also make some improvements to our goblin model.

You can see the result for yourself :)

About the Game!

Posted 2020-02-14updated 2020-02-14

So, we thought an explanation was in order, more so than "We are making a game about short green people"!

Goblin Insurrection is a puzzle game with many systemic elements! Puzzles are more similar to Legend of Zelda than the original Lemmings, but the player will use whatever items, or orders they have to control the rebel greenskins, as in Lemmings.
When traversing the caverns, to overcome obstacles you will have to operate old machines, like: lifts, drills, and bridges, to clear or make your way. You will have to burn obstacles to ash, and fill deep pits with water to swim across. Every time you finish a puzzle, we hope to deliver a genuine "aha" experience!

Apart from the classic puzzle elements, Goblin Insurrection will also feature elements of exploration, which is rewarded with loot! While the level in itself will be lit and visible, some areas will be hidden behind the fog of war.
While exploring, the goblins will find important items required to free their kin from oppression!

For the completionist, players have a reason to replay levels of Goblin Insurrection to make sure their brethren are saved.
The path to freedom is not a straight line! Found a key? Go back a few levels and replay the one with the locked door, rescue the poor sob on the other side!

These are features we have now, or those about to be implemented shortly.
As any other game developer we of course also have bigger plans. Creating a storyline, and making a map editor are only two of them, but first things first!

Fig Campaign

Posted 2020-02-06updated 2020-02-06

As of now we are working hard at creating a trailer for Goblin Insurrection for our planned Fig campaign! For myself, its mostly catering to the required animations and assets required, while Daniel is grinding away at creating the environments, timings, camera pans etc.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, Johann Strauss is composing a very crisp cinematic track. If all goes as planned, the campaign will launch somewhere in the middle of March, but the trailer will be available here in just a few days!

It is really satisfying to see Goblin Insurrection take shape, and adding music to the visuals especially fuels the development!

Until next week, have some Goblin propaganda!

Blog is Live!

Welcome! You have stumbled across the development log for Red Pentagram Studio. If this is at the top of the page, this means you are special to us, and should give yourself a tap on the shoulder!
We make games! :)
As of now, we are hard at work on Goblin Insurrection, a puzzler game inspired by Lemmings, and Zelda. Our first title, Dantes Bullet Inferno is anxiously resting on the shelf as administrative tasks prove a bottleneck for us, although we will be pushing it to Steam in the near future!

We hope to post here at least weekly. We certainly hope you find it interesting!
